In my continued effort to inform you about some safe, natural alternatives to some of the toxic kid’s dishware (like melamine & plastic) out there, I’ve found another cool option that I think you guys will love as much as I do!
I’ve already reviewed Re-Play’s super cool recycled dishware & Oogaa’s adorable silicone dishes & spoons… and today’s review will be of some awesome safe & non-toxic silicone products made by Kinderville! …the specific products I’m reviewing today are not necessarily “dishware” per se… but Kinderville does have some great dishware options that I’ll at least link to here!
[one_half padding=”0 5px 0 5px”]Thanks to the folks at Kinderville for sending us some little bites pouches for review! We appreciate it & totally love them! :)[/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 5px 0 5px”]
The little bites pouches we tested come in two sizes, “snack” size & “sandwich” size… and these are pretty much my favorite new way to transport lunches! They’re so much better than taking along a plastic baggie as these are (obviously) endlessly reusable.
Kinderville promotes a “Zero Waste” lifestyle, and it is evident in all of their products… they are made for durability and longevity!
All of their products are made of safe silicone (free of BPA, lead, & pthalates) and are a non-toxic way to transport food. I discussed silicone-safety in this post.
The pouches are sealed with little button holes (cute & clever!), and although they aren’t leak-proof, as in, you can’t carry liquids in them… I think they are just perfect for all of the snacks & sandwiches I’ll be packing!
I also tested out their little bites storage jars, which I was pleasantly surprised with. I wasn’t sure how well the “suction” mechanism on the top would work, but it actually works really well and keeps things in air-tight. I probably would not recommend putting true liquids in these (for a long transport at least), but these are perfect for hummus, yogurt, or even dressings or salsa, in my opinion! Just make sure to keep food off the outer rim so you can get a good seal with the lid.
I got these on Amazon for $13.99 for a set of two, which I thought was a pretty great deal seeing as I’ll be able to use and re-use these! They’re perfect for my toddler to carry around too, since he’s loving having snacks in mini-cups that he can independently carry right now.
I was able to fit 4 dates in this container (perfect for dessert!).
If you’ve got a messy baby on your hands, they also have these adorable bibs that fold up to have a “catcher”… Definitely bookmarking these for when we have our next baby (or for when I need a baby shower gift…) too cute!!
All of Kinderville’s products are technically dishwasher-safe (as all non-toxic silicone should be), but they do recommend hand washing for getting the best life out of your products. Honestly, because I use these so frequently and they are so stinking easy to clean, I would rather just hand-wash them.
Comparatively, the price-point for the Kinderville snack pouches, little bites storage jars, & dishware is pretty competitive, especially considering the durability and length of life these products are sure to have. As for the little bites storage jars and plates/bowls (<– I’m assuming, although, again, I haven’t tried them), they are a really sturdy silicone that’s less flexible than say the pouches would be. I really like that, because some of the silicone things I’ve tried in the past have been kind of hard to manage for little fingers because it’s almost too flexible.
I absolutely give my Sensibly Sustainable Stamp of Approval to the folks at Kinderville! And appreciate their efforts in providing us with some fantastic safe, sustainable, unique, & cost-effective options for lunch packing and tableware!
